4C’s farm raised calves can now be purchased by individuals who desire fresh beef. Our family has been feeding cattle to be slaughtered for our own consumption more than 50 years. We use only the highest quality grains and feed ingredients to produce a superior product. Purchasing beef in bulk is not only a healthier choice but, will save you money on your grocery bill. You can purchase a whole or half calf on the hoof from us and we will deliver it to your choice of slaughter house to process your calf. Our calves will weigh around 1150 lbs once they are finished. Calves dressing percentage usually averages 60 – 62%. So you can expect about 700 lbs of eatable product for a whole calf or 350 lbs for a ½ calf. You can expect slaughter houses to charge around .25 lb for processing and packaging. We charge $1.50 per lb on the hoof. For processing and buying the calf you will spend approximately $1900.00 on a whole calf (or $950.00 ½) which will result in spending $2.70 per lb of eatable product. This will include: all top end cuts such as filets, rib-eyes, t-bones, roasts, cube steaks and ground hamburger meat and you will be able to select size of roast, thickness on steaks and amount of hamburger (lb) per package.
